Relief is Out There

7 Oct

In baseball, a relief pitcher comes in to stop the damage and hopefully give his team a chance to come back and win the game. Relief is the key word. Even the best pitchers need a little relief from time to time.

But what do you do when you can’t find suitable relief? What it there’s nobody in the bullpen waiting to come out and help? Sadly, that’s what many Americans face every day—those suffering from a painful condition called Neuropathy.

What is Neuropathy, and what has it done to my feet?

You may not know what neuropathy is…but it may be affecting your health. Neuropathy, more accurately called “peripheral neuropathy,” is a condition that afflicts some 20 million Americans.

Neuropathy is the interruption of the nervous system because of damaged or dysfunctional nerves. The damaged nerves are usually a result of disease or trauma, and the damage causes the nerves to misfire (either too fast or too slow). The result can be quite painful, and symtoms can range from mild to severe. It is not uncommon for a neuropathy patient to experience a numbness or tingling sensation in the extremities and can sometimes even result in severe pain – even when something as light as a bed sheet touches their foot.

That’s no way to live! We should be free to go on a walk with our family, walk barefoot through the sand on the beach, and for heaven’s sake sleep at night without constant pain.
