1. WHAT IS THE LASERTECH CGLT SYSTEM?
The technology used by the LaserTech System is a Computer Guided Laser Therapy pain reduction and tissue healing system that was developed after many years of research and development by Canadian physician Fredrick Kahn, MD, FRCS, a vascular surgeon with a team of world renowned laser experts. The technology behind the LaserTech System offers a highly efficient and innovative technology to doctors for non-surgical treatment of many painful musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. The LaserTech System is manufactured with ultra precise components and uses patented computer software to achieve precise and accurate penetrating laser treatment of the affected areas.

2. HOW DOES THE LASERTECH CGLT SYSTEM WORK?
We have all heard of lasers. Lasers are concentrated forms of light. They are being used for destructive weapons, to cut steel, to conduct internal surgery, for laser eye surgery and for skin treatments. The more concentrated, the “hotter” and more powerful the laser is. The “colder” the laser, the less destructive burning effect it has. For example, lasers used for surgery are much “colder” then those used to cut steel. The laser technology that LaserTech employs is based on “cold” penetration laser technology. For over 30 years medical researchers have found that low level laser (cold laser) can affect human tissue in many positive ways. The scientific literature has over 2,600 research articles studying the effects of laser on human and animal tissue. The effect is called “photo bio-stimulation” as the laser stimulates many important changes in damaged tissue and has no effect on healthy tissue or organs. That is why laser therapy treatment is so appealing. It is effective and safe. At LaserTech we use sophisticated and patented computer software and bio-technically designed hardware that directs the exact laser dose into the deep tissue to stimulate pain relief and tissue healing. Up until the advent of the technology behind the LaserTech CGLT System this preciseness was nearly impossible. CGLT in the LaserTech name stands for Computer Guided Laser Therapy. Once the lasers are directed at and penetrate the damaged and painful area a cascade of biological changes occur. They are technically complicated but the outcome is simple….pain relief.

4. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LASERTECH TREATMENT VERSUS OTHER TYPES OF TREATMENT?
LaserTech treatment is an exciting pain management and healing technology that is extremely effective without the dangers of drugs, surgery, or injections. Clinical studies have shown most drugs for pain to have very limited benefits and have serious side effects (Vioxx, Celebrex, etc). Scientific literature has determined that cortisone injections have a very limited use and at best are short term in their effects. Surgery should be considered as a last resort for most patients due to the many risks, post-surgical complications, and highly questionable long-term outcomes. Of course there are patients that have to use drugs, may benefit from an injection or even need a surgery when all else fails. But for the vast majority of patients LaserTech can be the best choice for pain relief. Thousands of patients world wide have found rapid and long lasting relief of serious pain with LaserTech treatment.

5. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LASERTECH SYSTEM AND OTHER LASER SYSTEMS?
Scientists and doctors have known for many years the healing power of lasers, however most lasers were not high powered enough, were inaccurate and could not penetrate deep enough. Nor could the exact dosage be controlled so as to render effective treatment. However, with the advent of the technology behind LaserTech CGLT those difficulties have been overcome. The LaserTech System renders a powerful, deep penetrating dosage of laser to the target tissue. Back to top

6. WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Most patients find significant relief within a short period of time. The number of treatments vary based upon a patient’s age, type of condition, degree of degeneration or injury, general health, lifestyle, etc.

7. DOES THE LASERTECH SYSTEM HAVE FDA CLEARANCE?
Yes, the technology used by LaserTech Pain Relief Centers has received 510(k) notification for the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.

8. HOW DOES IT RELIEVE PAIN?
Damage and degeneration in the joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves of the body are caused by aging, sports and work injuries, compression, and abnormal wear and tear. This results in arthritis, pain and stiffness in various parts of the body especially in the shoulders, knees, spine, hips, wrists, ankles and feet. Joints become arthritic, spinal discs degenerate and bulge, ligaments fail, muscles can tear, and nerves become inflamed and compressed. This process results in pain, spasm and inflammation. Everyday activities become painful and often limited. LaserTech relieves these symptoms by stimulating the release of the body’s own anti-inflammatory chemicals, and natural pain killers. LaserTech also stimulates and accelerates natural tissue repair functions, and increases blood supply. The result is rapid pain relief and the repair of damaged tissue such as joints, spinal discs, muscles, ligaments and nerves.

9. CAN THE LASERTECH TREATMENT BE USED AFTER SURGERY OR IS IT CONTRAINDICATED?
The application of the LaserTech System at some point following surgery is NOT contraindicated. It has been used as a follow-up therapy for patients that continue to complain of postsurgical pain and disability. Many patients seek LaserTech treatment after hip or knee joint replacement to treat lingering post-surgical pain.

10. WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS OF THIS TREATMENT?
The LaserTech System is an inherently safe procedure that can be used, without complications, for a wide variety of painful conditions. Laser therapy with LaserTech CGLT is exceedingly safe. There are no contraindications except applying laser during pregnancy, over a malignant tumor, over the thyroid gland, or exposing the eyes to laser. Unlike other treatments LaserTech can be applied to metal implants, pacemakers, joint replacement hardware, after recent surgery and even over bone fractures.

11. HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A CANDIDATE FOR LASERTECH TREATMENT?
The only way is through a consultation with a LaserTech trained doctor. During a 20-30 minute consultation the doctor will take your history, ask specific questions and review any MRI, CT scan or X-ray reports in addition to any other medical evaluations you possess. If you do not have the appropriate MRI, CT scan or x-rays the doctor may request you get one in order to determine your condition. However, in many cases these radiological procedures are not necessary. The doctor will explain how the LaserTech can help you and in what time frame you should note a good response. If you are determined to be a candidate by the doctor you can proceed to an examination if desired and undergo your first LaserTech CGLT treatment.

12. WHAT DO LASERTECH TREATMENTS FEEL LIKE?
LaserTech treatments are very comfortable. Some people worry that lasers can burn, however LaserTech is a “cold” laser and burning is impossible. LaserTech therapy is applied directly on the skin over the affected area. There is no surgical or needle penetration. Most patient feel a mild warmth during the treatment. The computer guided laser is applied by the use of flexible arrays and probes of various types of lasers that approach distinctive types of tissue in different ways and provide the exact amount of laser that is required to successfully treat the patient effectively. During the treatment patients can sleep, read, enjoy a drink, relax to music or talk to a friendly laser therapist.
